Gunsmoke (1955) s19e20

TV Western series 1955-1975
-Year: 1974
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Lester ~8
-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: color
-I own: yes, TV recording
-Clothing occurence: medium
-Rating: 3/10
-Rating: ***
-Comment: I think this is 8 or 9 yo Todd Lookinland aka Todd Lookingland (“The Brady Bunch”, probably the brother of Mike) in beige pants with suspenders and in a beige corduroy suit with a bow tie at the end. Several scenes with him.

I don’t like this young actor and his haircut. There are definitely better episodes. What else should I say about this? Nice one-room schoolhouse, but I don’t remember other kids here. Maybe I have missed the beginning (not sure).

Rating just 3-4 for this 1974 episode.

Main entry (rating 9) with some other kids

Der Ölprinz (1965)

Western starring Stewart Granger
-Year: 1965
-Country: Germany, Yu
-Who in clothing: boys, girls ~5-10
-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: color
-I own: yes, partly TV recording
-Clothing occurence: low
-Rating: 5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Some, mainly younger kids, boys and girls in different clothes. A boy in beige pants with H-style suspenders, one in a brown suit, another in pants (jeans) and a green shirt. The kids are singing, conducted by Heinz Erhardt.

Girls in pigtails, some in sailor-style dresses. Also some women.

Some other scenes of (this and/or other) kids, but mainly from a distance and in the background.

Starring Pierre Brice, Terence Hill and many others. A similar Karl May movie has been aired before that (coming soon).

Rating 5 only. Somehow I never paid much attention to Winntou movies and most I don’t like.

Ollie Hopnoodle’s Haven of Bliss

Disney family film
-Year: 1988
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: Randy ~9 ?
-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: color
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 5/10 ?
-Rating: *****
-Comment: Jason Clarke Adams aka Jason Adams in a beige Western shirt and I think dark pants with brown chaps and a beige (straw ?) hat. Also shirtless. Also starring Jerry O’Connell (shirtless as well). Set in the 1950s.

I found this by coincidence searching for a related (Jean Shepherd / A Christmas Story) movie starring Damon Raskin (for my overalls blog).

Quite interesting but I think few or very few good scenes. Also bedroom scenes, soon on my other blog.

Rating 5-6 for now only.

Today’s Winnetou movies and Gunsmoke episode coming soon.

Return of the Bad Men

Western starring Randolph Scott

-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: b&w
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating: 6/10 ?
-Rating: ******
-Comment: Gary Gray in tight, dark, striped pants, I think not jeans, a vest and a flat hat. Also a woman with a Cowboy hat, also riding.

I didn’t had the time to check the complete movie. But it looks interesting.

Pic 2 at the beginning, pic 1 shortly later. Obviously several good scenes of Gary.

Warner Archive DVD, so probably a DVDr. I think, I won’t buy it.

Rating at least 6-7 for now.

Hellfire (1949)

-Who in clothing: Doll ~29
-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: color
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: medium ?
-Rating: 3/10 ?
-Rating: ***
-Comment: I think this must be Marie Windsor as fugitive Doll Brown in a vest, Cowboy hat and green scarf.

I have checked this some time ago and can’t say much more yet. 90 minutes Trucolor.

Obviously a typical Western for it’s time. I don’t remember younger actors in here.

So rating 2-3 for now only.

Family series, 458 ep

-Comment: Several boys and girls and some few grown-ups in Western clothes including hats in episode 236. Not sure about women and if chaps. Needs to be rechecked.

As announced on my overalls blog (rating 8 for many girls and boys in overalls).

Good and funny saloon scenes but only known in this episode. Good costumes, also the dresses of the girls.

Rating 5-6.

Gimme a Break! (1981)

Sitcom starring Nell Carter

-Clothing occurence: very low
-Rating: 6/10
-Rating: ******
-Comment: 7 or 8 yo Joey Lawrence in beige Cowboy clothes in 1984 ep s3e19. Also wearing chaps. Not sure of his pants, probably jeans. Few scenes and only one brief scene with the hat.

Also 6 yo Matthew Lawrence in blue bib overalls and also a teen girl (overalls blog rating 4). Publicity pics of Joey in overalls but I haven’t found any in the series.

Rating 5-6 only for the brief scenes.

While Justice Sleeps

Drama starring Cybill Shepherd
-Year: 1994
-Country: USA
-Who in clothing: girl Sam 9, woman
-Available on DVD: yes
B&W or color: color
-I own: no
-Clothing occurence: low ?
-Rating: 2/10
-Rating: **
-Comment: Karis Paige Bryant (“Charmed”), around 8 or 9 yo as 8 yo Sam in faded blue jeans and also in blue and red bib overalls (overalls blog rating 4) also riding on a mechanical bull with a Cowboy hat but shown from a distance. Also a woman riding with a Cowboy hat.

Good baseball scenes of boys and girls at the beginning.

Typical drama and ranch movie. I prefer males.

So rating 2-3 only.

Sorry, I’m currently too busy for checking more real Westerns.

Update: King of the Wild Stallions

Finally, I have received this DVD. Rating (8)-9 was correct. Jerry Hartleben “3:10 to Yuma” is indeed very good and many scenes in different clothes with him. (Of course jeans and bib overalls would even be better.)

Beige, soft cotton pants with and without red brown suspenders and Cowboy hat, green shirt and some other interesting pink and flowerded shirts. Also the other half in soft, grey, checkered cotton pants, I think riding in both.

I prefer the beige pants but also good sitting in the grey ones (rear view) and often been trapped in the butt crack. Riding scenes mainly from a distance.

Good scenes at 18 minutes, 34-41, 57 and also later. I have seen the complete movie once at regular speed but will rewatch it again soon and at slow speed. Pic 2 is at 18 minutes, pics 1+4 in the middle, pic 3 near the end.

DVD is a RC0 DVDr with excellent, remastered image quality. No extras. The main plot is quite good, partly Lassie-like and including a wild horse, but somehow it could have been made better. I wonder if anybody buys this not because of Jerry.

Main entry (nothing much there)
